They call it augmented reality! I love the term & ambition it represents. So what is it? here’s the official description:
The Layar Reality Browser shows what is around you by displaying real time digital information on top of the real world as seen through the camera of your mobile phone. This technology is called Augmented Reality. We augment the real world as seen through your mobile phone, based on your location.
The technology is here and now, its available for download on android & Iphone. We have been modeling the virtual world on the real one all this while, but apps like these will influence how we use the real world based on the virtual one.

Take note, this technology is going to evolve & impact you whether you like it or not, even if its a literal impact of a kid running into you on the street, because he did not see you behind that bot in his layar!
Its only a small jump from holding up the phone in front of your face (and looking like a dork), to being uber-cool because its embedded into a little switch on your favorite brand of shades.

Tried it on an Android phone yesterday. Seems like a very interesting app.
